The unfolding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has increased the incidence of several dermatological disorders, including diffuse hair loss. Research revealed an escalated pattern loss (PHL) and telogen effluvium (TE) in COVID-19 patients. Psychological stress, systemic inflammation oxidative stress are potential culprits. Reduced anagenic expression proteoglycans is a mediating mechanism that connects to critical health conditions such as COVID-19. Proinflammatory cytokines hormones negatively affect normal metabolism proteoglycans, which known regulators growth cycle.
